We screen applicants to make sure SPIN dogs go to great homes and are a good match to the adopter. We want our poodles to stay happy, healthy and safe. Most of all, though, we are dedicated to fulfilling the dream of each dog that comes through SPIN. Inside the heart of every poodle lies the singular desire to be loved. We know that. You know that. Let's work together to fulfill their dreams.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. You do not need to fill in an application until we ask you to. Instead, after reading the dog's bio on our website, you can Contact Us to indicate your interest and ask a few more questions about the dog you are interested in.
SPIN is a national rescue across Canada. We do not ship or transport dogs to potential families. You and your family, including your dog(s), have to come and meet the SPIN dog you are interested in. Please take note of where the SPIN dog you are interested in is located.
Once we chat and you decide to move forward, please take your adoption application seriously. This is your chance to tell us who you are.
We review your application. If we have any questions, we will contact you for clarity, typically by email. Once your application is approved, the foster will be reaching out to you to conduct a phone interview.
Many of SPIN's dogs are in Ontario, but we have foster homes across Canada. Wherever the dog is, the one rule is, you have to come and meet the dog you are interested in adopting. SPIN does not ship dogs. After the meet and greet, you must indicate whether you would like to be considered for the dog you met. If you indicate you are interested, the adoption team will meet and discuss whether you and your family are the right fit. We will let you know our decision in a timely fashion. But Wait. There's more.
Once your application review is complete and you have met the dog, a SPIN volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit and discuss all-things poodle. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards that the adopter may not have considered. We will also phone your references including your veterinarian.
After all the above steps are completed, the Adoption Team meets to review your application and make the final decision. You will be notified and we will arrange for the contract to be signed, payment received and, oh happy day, pick up of your new family member. We know. It's a lot. But our process works. Let's work through it together.
