In November, 2022, this absolutely gorgeous, white standard poodle named Jada came into SPIN. An owner surrender due to changed life circumstances, Jada was a poodle who knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to speak her own mind. Miss bossy boots. Her daycare that she attended called her the “fun police.”
Well. I never would have believed it, but we had a devil of a time finding a home for Jada. At first we said that she would prefer a home without another dog, but in July, Jada started to hang out with another SPIN adopter’s pack-o-poodles. Jada loved it and got along famously with all their dogs.
Meanwhile, the poodles kept coming into SPIN. Foster homes were getting scare. Jada’s foster family felt that they could bring in one more dog. Into Jada’s foster home entered silly girl Layla. Well. Didn’t the two girls hit it off? Sure there were a few conversations at first, but that’s to be expected. They enjoyed each other’s company.
We were surprised as the months ticked by and Jada remained with SPIN. And here is where in the story gets interesting. In May, one of SPIN’s dogs from a doodle breeding farm was adopted by a long-time SPIN supporter. Chocolate came in with three other standard poodles: Purdy, Godiva, Hershey and Chocolate. Chocolate was renamed Teddy. He at first enjoyed life in his adoptive home with another standard poodle, Kit. Unfortunately, not long after, Kit suddenly passed away and the whole family was devastated.
Teddy had lived all of his life with other dogs around him. He had to learn so many new things. This living outside the horrible barn was all new to him! So what did his family do? They started looking for a sister for Teddy to give him strength and teach him how to live amongst us humans.
And who would do that better than a certain bossy white standard poodle who knew what she wanted and how to get it…. Yup. Teddy now has a bossy older sister and he is following her lead. How incredible is this story?
