Meet Kale (pronounced Cal-lee)!

Actually… he probably thinks his name is Suchagoodboy — because that’s what his foster home is always telling him. And he truly is. Gentle, sweet, and easy to live with, Kale is the kind of dog who makes you feel lucky just to have him around. At just 5 years old, Kale came into our care after living with severe, untreated hip dysplasia. Actually, Kale's people presented the dog for euthanasia due to the original owner's health. They had moved into a senior's residence and we guess they didn't know what else to do. The vet told them about SPIN. The moral of the story here is to please watch out for our seniors and help them when they are faced with big life changes. They didn't know about SPIN and they didn't want their beautiful companion struggling. Sigh. But yeah for the vets out there!

Thanks to your donations, Kale received life-changing Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery. This is a procedure where the head of the femur (thigh bone) is removed, creating a "false joint" with the hip socket to provide pain-free mobility. After weeks and weeks of recovery, Kale is now pain-free and enjoying his new lease on life.
