EDMONTON, AB

In  September 2024, just days after being pulled from a breeding farm, Maverick was playing in his foster family's yard and all of a sudden he fell and couldn't get up. It turned out that Maverick had a dislocated shoulder -- Medial Shoulder Instability. Maverick was referred to a specialist surgeon, but the surgeon preferred to try the non-surgical route first.

Maverick’s leg was bound to his chest in order to hold the shoulder in place and allow the joint to heal.  Can you imagine? This poor dog. Pulled from a mill. Having to get used to living a whole new kind of life and then this happens. But you know, Maverick is okay. He is learning and growing and overall, a pretty happy little dude!

At the next vet appointment on Oct. 18, the surgeon assessed that the body wrap could come off and he was put in hobbles so that he couldn’t over extend. This dog is amazing!  Then, Nov 6th, the hobbles came off and Maverick was allowed to fully use his leg and shoulder, though he needs to take it easy for the next month or so.

Good thing Maverick has all of the SPIN folks lining up behind him and cheering him on! Go Maverick! Isn't he adorable?

Maverick, our sweet, shy boy who just needs a little time to warm up! Rescued from a puppy mill, he’s learning what love and companionship really mean. While he’s a bit reserved at first, once he knows you, his playful side shines. He loves to romp around and enjoy gentle games, showing his joyful spirit. With patience and a calm environment, he’ll be a wonderful companion ready to bond deeply.
